Good morning parents and guardians,
I hope you all had a restful weekend. Students have earned a Loop Celebration and will be building forts at the end of the day. We have a great group and they are already adding loops for another celebration in the future!
This week as always, please have your child read aloud to you for 20 minutes each evening as part of their homework and have them record their minutes and what they read on the Home-School Connection form they carry with them in their green (hopefully soon to be blue) folders. I have included optional math homework before under math but I do not need to see this work unless you and your child have questions. I also have weekly focus words that you may have your child work on at home if you feel they need additional practice with the phonic pattern and spelling.
Here’s what we are learning in class for the week of Aug. 29:
Reading: Sequencing and text structure, will be the main areas of focus, as we read and sequence important events from narrative, non-fiction texts.
Writing/Lang Arts: Students are focusing on the structure of a paragraph, finishing up their emoji writing and starting on The Best Part of Me paragraph. We will answer the question, what is a compound word?
Math: Our focus continues to be on multiplication as we look at how we can use what we know to determine the area of a rectangle. Optional math homework lessons Module 2 lessons 1-3.
Science/Social Studies: We will learn how friction, gravity, and resistance interact with objects as we watch videos and consider these forces in our everyday lives. Students will also learn about the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen.
Important upcoming dates:
Monday, Aug 29 - Loop Celebration
Mon. Sept 5 - Labor Day, No School
