Dear Parents and families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the three day weekend. We will be discussing Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights movement this week and learn more about influential Civil Rights leaders. We are also looking into kid inventions and students creating their own invention. Due to this and other assessments, we will not be doing our normal Wonders assessments this week. The only homework that students will have this week is to create their own product to sell at a school Market Day. The assignment is attached to the communication sheet.
There is a lot going on at Simis over the next couple weeks, but I shall try to keep my email correspondences to a minimum. First, the kickoff for our school fundraiser, the Fun Run, is on Thursday. There will be daily challenges for your child to partake in to earn prices and raise money for our school. There will be multiple short emails from me leading up to the main event on January 27th. This week there is a challenge to create a star video. The class with the most videos created earns an extra recess. Go to mybooster.com to register and/or create that video.
Next, our Informance will be on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in the cafetera. The sign up to be an audience member is located here. If you want to attend, please sign up sooner rather than later. If you have not scanned your ID into our Raptor system, please plan on coming in any time prior to the Informance date to expedite the sign in process on the day of the Informance. When you come on the day of the Informance, please allow enough time to check in. If you are unable to attend, snippets of the performances will be available on our classroom Seesaw account.
Lastly, student led conferences will be held on February 1st through the 3rd. As the name implies, your child will need to be there to facilitate the conference. There are three families per time slot. If the available time slots/dates do not work for you, please reach out and let me know. I look forward to watching your child share their progress and goals within the walls of our classroom. Please click here to sign up for Student Led Conferences.
Lunch sign ups: We have some parents, grandparents, and other visitors that want to eat with their students. I learned recently that there is a sign up sheet for that. Would you please let me know if you are planning on coming to eat lunch with your child. Thanks for your assistance.
