I hope that everyone is adjusting to the school schedule and that students are starting to feel comfortable with our classroom and routines. This week, there we be a solar eclipse on Monday and I know students are excited about that. We will be showing the NASA video and discussing it in class. I hope you talk to students at home about it as well.
Here is what we are learning in class:
Writing: We had such good papers come in last week about their summer breaks. Students will be writing a final draft to put in the hall way for others to see. We will be writing another narrative about ourselves this week.
Reading: We are talking about traditions and culture this week. We will continue to work on the comprehension strategy of visualization and the skill of sequencing stories using a Flow Map.
Math: We will be finishing our chapter on addition and students will be talking about subtraction. We will learn to regroup numbers to help us solve math problems.
Science: Students are really enjoying the science curriculum. We are looking at the property of sound and how sound vibrates. We will be looking at how the vibration of an object effects it's pitch.
Social Studies: We are a little behind in our social studies since we were in Map Testing on those days. We will continue to look into culture which was our objective last week. As well, we will look start looking at ancient civilizations.
